About KIPOS

Whitworth's KIPOS Community Garden was founded by Whitworth students who care about sustainability and equity. Kipos aims to change the way we see the intersection between food, the environment, and social justice. We educate on and promote gardening, composting, thoughtful consumption, reduction of waste, and general life-long sustainability.

Get Involved and Volunteer

There are plenty of ways to get involved with the KIPOS Community Garden! Whenever new events are happening in the garden you can get notified by subscribing to the email list at the bottom of this page. If you are more interested in volunteering on your own time you can head to the forum page and check out what you can do on your own. Also, this summer the garden manager will be working in the garden consistently every Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:30am to 1pm if you are at all interested in learning some gardening basics or getting a tour of the garden!

Garden Events

Gardening events can consist of garden work days where we work as a community to cut back weeds, plant new starts, or organize different parts of the garden. Gardening events also span to the creative realm sometimes with past events including mural painting, sign painting, creating garden stepping stones, and painting rock markers. The garden also holds an annual Harvest Festival in the fall every year with live music, food from the garden, and crafts! If you have any amazing garden event ideas please feel free to email kiposcommunitygarden@gmail.com
